Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Ethno Cal collects, why, and what control you have. Short version: your data is yours, we collect the minimum to run the service, and we never sell it.
What we collect
Your profile (name, email, body metrics you enter, targets, language), your meal logs, weights, water and personal recipe corrections. That's what a food diary needs — nothing more.
Meal photos
Photos you scan while signed in are stored privately so your history keeps its context. Guest-trial photos are analyzed in memory and immediately discarded — never stored.
AI processing
Photos and meal descriptions are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to produce nutrition estimates. They are processed to answer your request, not used to train models.
Payments
Premium payments are handled by Stripe. Card numbers never touch our servers; we store only your subscription status and Stripe customer reference.
Retention and deletion
Your data stays until you delete it. Export everything as JSON from Settings anytime. Account deletion starts a 30-day grace period, after which everything is permanently purged.
Your rights
Access, export, correct and delete your data from Settings — no email required. For anything else (GDPR/CCPA requests included), contact us and we'll respond promptly.
